Road signs
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈEN

Shape and color tell you what a sign does before you can even read it. Learn these six and most sign questions answer themselves.

Red octagon β€” STOP

Full stop before the line, crosswalk or intersection. Then proceed when clear.

Downward triangle β€” YIELD

Slow, be ready to stop, and let cross traffic and pedestrians go first.

Yellow diamond β€” warning

Something ahead needs your attention: a curve, a merge, animals, a narrow bridge.

Yellow-green pentagon β€” school

School zone or crossing. Reduced limit (15–20 mph) when active.

White rectangle β€” the law

Speed limits, one-way, no turn. Regulatory: breaking it is a violation.

Orange β€” work zone

Workers and equipment ahead. Fines double in an active work zone.

Line colors

Yellow separates opposing traffic; white separates same-direction lanes. Broken = you may cross when safe. Solid = stay put.

Flashing lights

Flashing red = stop sign. Flashing yellow = proceed with caution.
