How many questions are on the Class E Knowledge Exam?

50 multiple-choice questions. You need 40 correct — 80% — to pass.
What happens if I fail?

You can retake it. A fee and a short waiting period may apply depending on where you test. More practice is the fix.
Can I take the real exam online?

Applicants under 18 can test online through an approved third-party administrator with a notarized parent proctoring form. Adults test in person.
Is the exam offered in other languages?

The official Class E Knowledge Exam is administered in English. Practice in your own language here, then review the terms in English before test day.
Do I need the TLSAE or DETS course first?

Yes. First-time drivers must complete a state-approved course: 6-hour DETS if under 18, 4-hour TLSAE if 18 or older.
How long is my permit valid?

A Florida learner’s permit is valid for one year and can be renewed. You must hold it for at least 12 months (or until you turn 18) before the road test.
